The World Bank Group will launch the Global Findex 2017 survey on financial inclusion in Accra on Tuesday June 26th, 2018 at The Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel.
At the event the leadership from the Bank of Ghana, the Ministry of Finance and CGAP will also welcome participants to engage in a morning of discussion on financial access in Ghana.
The latest Findex data shows the share of adults with access to a formal financial services account in Ghana growing from 29 percent in 2011 through 40 percent in 2014 to 58 per cent in 2017.
While the latter figure still falls short of the government’s Maya Declaration target of 70 per cent by 2017, it nevertheless represents a significant improvement: in six short years, Ghana has doubled formal financial access.
This progress is the result of efforts on many fronts, from both the public and private sector. The launch will further discuss the initiatives various stakeholders are taking to continue this upward trajectory and explore means to maximize collaboration to achieve a multiplier effect.
Finally, a multi stakeholder panel discussion and question and answers will provide an opportunity for broader engagement on the key issues of the day.
